Hello, dear reader. Whether you have followed OniGirl since it was first published on WebtoonCanvas (back in February in 2021!) or whether you're new to the story, just know that I am overwhelmed with gratitude that you're here! 

I can't fully express how gratifying it is when someone is interested in my story. Though I recognize how privileged I am to have illustrated thousands of drawings, designed murals across the nation, and contributed my comic skills to a few publications... There is nothing like getting positive response to a creative endeavor like this. It's something that is so deeply personal to me, even if the story is set in a fantasy world. 

When someone asks what my comic is about, the synopsis is usually some variation of:

"Dez is a half-human, half-oni and the new girl at Kamithos High School: a school for monster children. In a world where monsters are scarce, students must learn to assimilate the appearance and behavior of humans in order to survive. There, Dez not only has to make sense of this world she lives in, but also the duality of her nature."

But what is it really about? It's about the journey to self-love. It's a daunting task that most of us can relate to some degree. For some of us, it began from childhood and followed us into adulthood. In any case, developing love and compassion for oneself is something that can always be improved but is a never-ending undertaking. OniGirl was inspired by my own struggles with self-love, which is why I'm sure you understand how much this comic means so much to me. If this story entertains you, comforts you, or offers you something positive in any way- then that is the biggest compliment I could ever receive.
